The story of where it all began...
A little about me - I am actually a chartered accountant ... not necessarily the expected career bedfellow with floristry.
But after a pretty exhausting time working in public services, particularly during the pandemic, I was in search of some work/life balance and something more fulfilling to do with my spare time. I had previously attended a number of day courses focusing on table arrangements, flower crowns and wreaths, and knew I loved the creative outlet that floristry gave me. I started an online course, but couldn't stick with it - I needed to learn from real people and to be hands on.
A couple years later I took the plunge and joined the Professional Floristry Course at The Bath Flower School and it changed the game for me.
Verity & Saffy were welcoming, friendly, patient, so generous with their knowledge and gave a realistic view of floristry. It was conditioning, buckets, stock styling, sweeping up and then the dreaded costing sheets...
They gave our little group the skills and knowledge to create, using sustainable methods, then let us loose on a beautiful selection of flowers - just see the picture below. The hardest decision each day was what to pick out of the beauties on offer.
On top of this, they had included lessons from other experts; social media, branding & marketing, funerals, photography.... everything you need to start a small business.
The confidence I gained at The Bath Flower School meant I came home, full of hope and motivation. Before I knew it, my website and bank account were set up, I had advertised wreath making workshops for Christmas and I was on my way...
